Some new hardware for my Amiga 1200
Hello guys,
Hope you’re having a nice Saturday. May is just around the corner and the summer is getting closer. Can’t wait until it gets a bit warmer. We had snow yesterday.
I’ve purchased some new hardware for my Amiga 1200. Some of you might remember that I’ve been working on a bog standard A1200 with HD for a long time now. I’ve done everything from programming to painting to playing games on it (as well as watching demos), but now I really had to upgrade. Running out of memory when trying to make something is not fun. I therefore purchased the ACA 1221 EC that has a 28 MHz 68020 CPU and 16 MB of RAM. Got it from Amigastore.eu – it arrived in just a few days from Spain, so very quick delivery from these guys. Thanks!
The card was easy to install. Pop it into the trapdoor-slot underneath the Amiga 1200.
As you can see from the photo above, the card slips nicely into the trapdoor-slot. Does not take up much space either!
After I had installed it, it was just a matter of turning on the A1200 and start testing out games, demos and tools. I’m happy to say that I can’t understand how I’ve coped with just 2 MB RAM and no fast-RAM. It’s a world of difference!
Beside the ACA1221EC, I also got an adapter so that I can use Playstation 1/2 controllers with the Amiga:
Works pretty well. Got it from KMTech on eBay.
Last but not least, I decided to get an old-school “ball-mouse”.
Very happy with everything, especially the turbo-card that lifted the A1200 to a whole new level.
Thanks for visiting my blog and hope to see you again soon. Have a good weekend!
